One of David's specialties is Skilled Touch - Skilled Touch provides a nurturing presence-centered touch for the elderly, hospital patients, homebound patients, as well as those in hospice care. To receive certification, students are trained in Universal precautions, working around obstacles like IV's, wheel chairs and beds. The priority of Skilled Touch is to honor the patient's need for caring touch without an intention to heal. Emphasis is on preserving or adding to the patient's quality of life. Skilled Touch was started by Irene Smith RN. In the 1980's, during the AIDS epidemic, Irene volunteered her nursing skills to work with AIDS patients during a time when many health care professionals avoided giving treatment to AIDS patients out of fear. Irene recognized the need for skilled providers, able to work under special circumstances so she created Skilled Touch. Another specialty is Chi Nei Tsang. Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Chinese method that was introduced into the United States by Master Mantak Chia. CNT focuses on restoring the mobility and motility of the abdominal viscera. CNT incorporates the Chinese five elemental system using breath, sound and deep abdominal massage. This is an interactive experience. The potential benefits of CNT; restore proper bowel movement, free up restricted chest breathing, restore posture, address low back discomfort and grounding the hip area. CNT is a wholistic approach that suppprts both emotional and physical wellness. Session rate is $160. Sessions can last 1.5 to 2hrs.
